Principal: Cathy Karasakal

Mrs. Cathy Karasakal was born and raised in Bucks County where she currently still resides. She is a graduate of Holy Family College (now University) with a B.A. in English/Communications. She received her Master's Degree in Secondary English Education from Temple University, as well as her Reading Specialist Certification, and Principal's Certification.

Mrs. Karasakal worked six years teaching English to juvenile incarcerated males, which was quite an experience! In 1993, she was hired by Bristol Township as a Reading teacher and spent 13 happy years at Armstrong Middle School. There she also served as Reading Olympics and Newspaper Advisor. She spent most summers either teaching Summer School (English) or working in the former Elementary Summer Enrichment Program, with her last year serving as Principal. Mrs. Karasakal was appointed Principal of Clara Barton Elementary in 2006 and also served at Mary Devine before coming to Emerson. This year will begin her 18th year with the township. Mrs. Karasakal commented, "I am very excited and fortunate to be a part of this amazing school community."

On a personal Level, she spent many years working in the restaurant industry as both a waitress and manager. She is married with one son who is a senior in high school, and one older stepson. She is also a grandmother to a beautiful grandson with another on the way.

Mrs. Karasakal's Philosophy: "I believe that it is our duty as educators to teach all children, regardless of ability, and have them achieve their personal best while fostering a life-long love of learning."
