BAND:

This class is offered to those students wishing to play a band instrument.  Beginners may be accepted with the understanding that much practice is required and the placement is for a full year. Most students taking this course will already have experience on their instruments.  Most students will need their own instruments, but the larger instruments and percussion may be provided by the school.

CHORUS:

This class is available to 7th and 8th graders who wish to learn the fundamentals of singing.  Some of the topics include: solfege, scales, proper vocal techniques, breathing exercises, and choral literature.  Opportunities are available to those students who wish to audition for solos and the select group, Elite Vocal Ensemble.

GENERAL MUSIC:

     This class is offered to 7th and 8th graders who wish to learn the fundamentals of music.  Topics such as: time signature, notation, instrument families, genres of music, recorder, drumes, keyboard, composition, and composers are some of the areas studied.

** All lessons and units are aligned to appropriate Pennsylvania State Standards.
