Overview: This course will explain the relationship between composition and grammar.

Student goal addressed by Holt Elements of Literature 2007: To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of reading, writing, vocabulary, and speaking and listening skills.

The goal will be achieved through various instructional techniques used with the textbook, workbooks, short stories, novels, and writing folders.

Classroom Materials: The following supplies must be brought to class on a daily basis.

                                Blue or Blackpens and a pencilnotebook_paper.gif

                                One folder for handouts

                                One single subject notebook

                                One pack of 3x5 index cards (100 count)

                                A highlighter

Academic Grading Policy: Grades will be based on homework (assignments that reinforce), tests, quizzes, writing assignments, notebooks, and classwork.

Rules: Come to class on time and prepared, be respectful, do not leave the room without permission, and no bullying.

Consequences: Verbal warning, discussion outside the classroom, teacher detention, parent phone call home, administration involvement. **Any severe disruptions will result in immediate contact with the administration.
