     In order to have a successful school year, please keep yourself organized and prepared for each day. Come with necessary materials, pens and pencils etc. Please keep the class procedure sheet you will receive during the first days for reference in your English folder that I have provided for you.  In addition, remember to bring the English composition writer's notebook that I have also provided each day to class for taking notes or other important activities.

          Please remember to check this website often to remind you of any homework, classwork, or projects. I will update information regularly. If your parents want to check your progress, the parent portal is available for review.   

 

 Summary  for week of 5/21/12-5/25/12

           We will continue reading the novel Call of the Wild by Jacl London and the various activities/asignments that are required. A packet of chapter questions for the novel was distributed and will be graded as a test when we are finished reading the novel.

                           A narrative writing prompt will continue to be improved on myaccess.com.  Students chose from 2 topics to develop a short story.

 

                   Homework week of 5/21-5/25

Students have the 7th grade field trip on Wednesday. In addition, there will be students out on several days for the science field trip.  FYI : We will finish reading Chapter 5 and the questions must be answered this week, also. Students must be caught up to this point in reading and questions by Friday.

        Curriiculum: Listening, Speaking, R eading, and Writing- Students will practice and demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of English through the integration of reading, literature study, vocabulary, writing, grammar, listening, and speaking. The course will include the implementation of various strategies, tasks, techniques and assessments to explore these relationships in order to achieve the intended goal. The English curriculum corresponds directly with PSSA Writing and Reading preparation.

textbooks.jpgIn addition to the textbook, workbooks, short stories, novels, Daily Caught’ya Grammar with a Giggle exercises, journals and writing portfolios will be used in teaching this course.

 

 

MaterialsAn English folder has been supplied for each student. It is to be used only for English and brought everyday to class. Students must also have blue or black pens, pencils, colored pens for editing, and loose leaf paper for note-taking and assignments. A marble composition book has been supplied for each student for notes.

 

  

Classroom Rules:  Students are encouraged to always try their best. Students should comenobullyzone.jpg to class prepared and on time. They should have all necessary assignments and supplies ready at the start of class. Students should treat each other, faculty, and staff with respect. Bullying will not be tolerated.

 

 

WE CAN LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES!

 Monthly Pass: Leaving Class: Students must ask for permission before they leave class. They must get their pass signed in order to leave the classroom.  Students are requested not to leave during instruction, quizzes or tests unless it is an emergency. Only one student at a time may leave.

 

 Absenteeism: Students are to check the handout tray for missing work. It is the student’s responsibility to get the work he/she missed and to make it up. Students have as many days as they are absent to make up work.

  Homework: Homework can be assigned as a practice of taught/required skills that are necessary to increase understanding of a lesson, to complete unfinished class work, to work on writing assignments that have already been introduced in class, or to study notes for quizzes and tests. In addition, a homework packet will be given most weeks, and the students may work on them in advance. They will be collected the following Monday.

 

Start and End of Class: Start : Students are expected to enter quietly, to sit in their assigned seats and to have all materials out and ready. Students should immediately begin work on the warm-up activity.  The AGENDA is always posted on the board.  End: Class is dismissed at the teacher’s instruction so students are asked to please wait before gathering their belongings. Students should return all supplies, books, etc. before exiting the classroom when directed.
