Welcome to School Year 2010-2011!

SRA

This course is SRA Level B2.  It is highly structured program where students' reading fluency and accuracy is continuously monitored and assessed.  There are 64 lessons in the program and we will finishe two to four lessons a week.  Each lesson focuses on sight words, decoding, fluency, and reading in context.  Students are required to read as a class and with a partner.  There is also related workbook they need to finish for each lesson.  Homework will be assigned Mondays through Thursdays.  At times, Friday homework will be assigned as well to "catch up" with missing assignments.  Students will be graded on classwork, homework, and tests/quizzes.  Daily materials needed are pencils/black or blue ink pen, loose leaf, folder/section in binder for SRA, homework planner.

 7th & 8th Grade Math

This math course will be aligned with the district 7th and 8th grade curriculum as well as the Pennsylvania standards.  Modifications and adaptations will be made accordingly.  The five areas of focus will be in Numbers and Operations, Measuements, Geometry, Algebra, adn Data Analysis/Probability.  Textbooks will be kept in class.  Students will be provided with notes pertaining to concepts being taught.  Homework will be assigned Mondays through Thursdays.  At times, Friday homework will be assigned as well to "catch up" with missing assignments.  Students will be graded on classwork, homework, and tests/quizzes.  Materials needed are pencils, loose leaf, folder/section in binder for Math (A simple calculator at home his also recommended), and homework planner.
