Dear Parents/ Guardians;

We are looking forward to an exciting 2011-2012 school year.  Here is a list of supplies your child will need. It is quite helpful if all school supplies and personal items are labeled with your child’s name. 

 

1.    A Vinyl and plastic zippered pencil case.

2.    (1) Black and Gold Marble Composition books for Assignments

3.    (2) Pocket folders (Homework Folder)

4.    (2) Different colored highlighter markers

5.    A C-O-U-N-T-L-E-S-S supply of pencils!

6.    A few big erasers

7.    Crayons or Colored Pencils

8.    Glue sticks

9.    Neil A. Armstrong gym shirt ($7.00) or plain gray T-shirt and black gym shorts ($7.00) optional.

10. Age appropriate backpack and /or lunch bag.  Rolling book bags do not fit in our lockers. 

11. One change of labeled clothes in a labeled bag.

  12. One package of sanitary napkins for the ladies

  13. Sweat shirt or sweater to stay in school

14. Two or more boxes of tissues

 

 

Please be advised that there will be Homework assigned Monday through Thursday.  Students will use the composition book to write in their assignments.  I will also use it to write short notes to you.  In return, you may use it to correspond with me, if you wish.

Math:

We are learning about place value of ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands.

Please practice touch points on the coins nickel ,dime, quarter and count by 5’s.  It is important to have your child practice using the touch points on their assigned homework. They are also skip counting by 2’s,5’s and 10’s to multiply. Please contact me if you would like a sample of the touch points for the numbers and money.

Spelling: Test on Nov. 5th

Reading: 

Group 1is on lesson 6 in the SRA reading program. Group 2 is on lesson 33 this week.  We are going over the words and sounds. Please, have your child read the words then sign the homework.

Please find Survival Words and Food Words in the community and at home. I will give extra points to the students who come in and said where they found the words!!

Weekly Reader will be about Election Day Please help your child re-read it to you and sign it.  Your child will receive an extra point. Thank you!

Life Skills: We made pudding dirt

Week in Review:

¯     Students reviewed their reports and saw the Taylor Swift web cam on Thursday.

( A day)  Art Mrs. Williamson: Students made masks helmets or walhangings out of plaster of paris. Quiz soon.

( A day) Music Mr. Marlow Students are learning concert music:

( B day ) Family Consumer Science: Put in cooking groups They will be preparing Chocolate Snicker Doodes or regular Snicker Doodles.

( B day) Gym Mr. DiGuiseppe  Participated in the Fit Program: Sit and Reach, and endurance Jog  They chart their own progress.
