Student of the Month

School Year 2012-2013

September - Responsibility

This means that a student tries to carry out a task carefully and completely.  People are able to count on you and depend on you. 

 

 

October - Respect

This means having a feeling of admiration or consideration for someone or something.  You show proper courtesy to others.  The students of the month are the following:

 

November - Citizenship

This means being a member of and supporting one's community.  James Buchanan is a community of staff members and students.  Particiapting in class, clubs, recycling paper, and collecting Box Tops are examples of ways to contribute to your school community.  The Students of the Month for November are the following:

December - Caring and Compassion

This means you are sympathetic and understanding toward the needs and feelings ofothers.  Some examples are bringing in food for our Holiday Food Drive, or scarves and mittens for the Warm and Fuzzy Tree or helping a classmates up after they had fallen on the playground.  Doing these things without expecting a reward are ways to show caring and compassion. 

January - Tolerance and Patience

This means respecting individual differences, views, and beliefs of other people.  The power to wait calmly without complaining. 

February - Loyalty

This means being faithful to a person, a team, your country or idea.

March - Honesty and Fairness

This means being truthful and being just.  Not just favoring one person or one side over the other.

April - Diligence and Perseverance

This means the ability to give careful attention to any task.  It also means being persistant and showing determination.  To continue even when things get difficult.

May - Good Sportsmanship
