PTO Minutes

PTO minutes from October 9, 2012 meeting:

 

The financial statement was reviewed and no changes were made.

The Positive Behavior Program is having a Chuck E. Cheese Night on October 23 from 3-9 PM.  All food and token purchases must be made at the counter. Please mention you are with Buchanan.

Also, Clarie's Gourmet funraiser brochures went home on October 9th.  All orders are due October 25th.  Please make checks out to James Buchanan PTO.

The next school store will be held on 10/15. If you are able to help with this event, please contact the PTO.

Barnes & Noble bookfair is scheduled from 11/14 from 6-8 PM.  This year's theme is "Sports".  Students are encouraged to wear sports themed clothing-hats, shirts, etc. to school and to the B & N bookfair.  The class with the greatest attendance will receive a party from the PTO.  All students who attend will receive a homework pass.

Chick-Fil-A Night is also scheduled for 11/14 from 5-8 PM.  Please join us for a bite to eat before attending the Bookfair.

Movie Night is October 19th at 7:30 PM.  The movie is Monster Night.  It is scheduled to be shown in the courtyard weather permitting.  Please bring chairs and/or blankets to sit on.  Snacks and drinks will be sold.  Doors open at 7 PM.  The cost is $1 per person- pay at the door.  Volunteers are welcomed and appreciated.  Please contact the PTO if you would like to volunteer.

Market day pick up will be on November 1 from 5-6 PM.  If you are unable to pick up at that time, please call the PTO. We are able to work with you. We do have a freezer that can hold your order. If you pre-pay for your order and are not able to pick it up, someone will be able to drop off the order to you if you call ahead.

PTO is still collecting box tops. This is a huge year long fundraiser. Every classroom has a container that students can put any box tops in on a daily basis. Everyone month, someone from PTO collects and counts the box tops. A tally is kept and the classroom with the most box tops collected receives a party. There are 2 parties a year: December and June.  Please continue to collect. Our goal this year is $3800. 

 We have also been turning in those ink cartridges to Staples. Staples has changed their collection payments. We are now receiving $2 per cartridge. Thank you for all of your support.

 PTO has made a Facebook page. Please "like" James Buchanan PTO. It is another way for our families to stay connected to see the current happenings of our school.

Holiday Shop will be November 26-30.  Our annual Holiday Bazaar will be Saturday,   December 1 from 11-2 PM.  Vendors are needed!! Please call Kelly Chew at 215-946-5922 to reserve a table.

The yearbook is currently underway. The cover has been picked by our 6th graders. More information will follow.

Last call for membership dues! Only $5 per family.  Please send your money in an envelope labeled PTO Membership.

The next meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, November 13th at 3:30pm. We will be having PTO meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of every month unless there is a scheduling issue.  

 

PTO Minutes for December 2012

Holiday shop and bazaar were a big success.  Thanks to everyone who helped make the week run so smoothly.

PTO is planning a Boys' Choice "Minute to Win It" Event on January 25.  More details will follow.

The next school store will be January 14

Santa will visit Buchanan December 19.

Market Day pickup will be January 17 on the stage side of the All-purpose room.

PTO donated $3000 to the Buchanan Band to purchase instruments for students to borrow.

Spiritwear orders have been placed.

The next PTO meeting will be January 8 at 3:30 PM.

 

 

PTO Minutes for Janury 2013

The Positive Behavior Team will sell Yankee Candles in March.  More details to follow.

PTO is hosting a Boys' Choice "Minute to Win It" event  on Jan. 25 from 6:30- 8:30 PM.  Boys are invited to bring whomever they want (18 years or older).  Cost is $10 per couple.  Snacks and drinks will be provided.  If anyone is able to help, please contact the PTO.

Our next school store is 1/14.

Market Day pick-up for January is 1/17 on the gym side of the cafeteria.

Spirit wear orders have been handed out.  If there are any problems, please see Kelly,  There are a few extras if anyone is interested.

PTO will be handing out pencils for 100 Day and Dr. Seuss' Day.

PTO is working on the Yearbook.  If anyone has pictures they would like to share, please contact Shanie Contie.  Also, class lists are needed from classroom teachers.  Shanie will hand out more information.

Up-coming events: Girls Choice (dance or Minute to Win It) 2/15.  Bounce-U fundraiser (grades will be separated) 3/7.

Field day will have new colors and a new design.  Any teacher who would like to suggest a design, please see Kelly.  All decisions are made by Mr. Terry.

PTO Minutes for February 2013

The Effective Behavior Team will be selling Yankee Candles in the spring.  More information will follow.

PTO will be hosting a Bounce U fundraiser.  Grades will be split up for different time slots.  K-3 will be 5:30-7 and Grades 46- will be 7- 8:30.  Papers with more info will be sent home this week.

Market Day pick-up for March is 3/14 on the gym side of the all-purpose room.

There is still some spiritwear available if anyone is interested.

PTO Minutes for March 2013

The Effective Behavior team is selling Yankee Candles. Orders are due 3/22.  They are also using anew ordering form system for students to "buy" water bottles, lunch totes, etc.

72 students attended Bounce U

Market Day pick-up is 4/18 on the gym side of the all-purpose room.  Our sales increased by $1000 last month.  Please make sure order forms go home with your students. This is an easy monthly fundraiser

There is still some extra spiritwear available.

PTO is working on the yearbook. If anyone has pictures they would like to share please email them to Kelly ASAP.  The yearbook has to be turned in next week.  We wanted to capture the "Evy retirement festivities" so we are handing it later than expected.

All egg contest and jelly bean counts are due 3/22. There will be an egg hunt on 3/27 for K-2

PTO Minutes for April 9, 2013

Yankee Candle pick up was successful. 

Two assemblies are planned for May: Flyers Assembly, Scooter Assemby (Dan Barrett)

School Store is scheduled for 4/29

Market Day pick-up is 4/18

Student Council is sponsoring "Uncle Jerry's Ts" Fundraiser.  Orders are due 4/23

Assorted Spiritwear pieces are available

Field day shirts have been ordered.  A limited number of extra shirts were ordered for each color.  When you receive your order, please check it.  Every year there are a few issues that are not resolved in time for field day.

PTO will be hosting an outdoor flea market on 4/27.  All spaces will be $15 (if you are a volunteer the space is $5).  If you are interested in reserving a spot, please contact PTO. Any group who would like to volunteer to help run or would like to sell items please contact PTO ASAP.  We are also running an Alex's Lemonade Stand.

PTO elections will be held during conference week.  A ballot will be handed out during conferences.

Teacher/staff appreciation luncheon will be Tuesday, May 7 in the teachers' lounge.

PTO will no longer cash checks after May 3.

PTO is planning a special end of the year party to be held on school-wide picnic day.  It will include bouncy houses and inflatable slides, spin art, balloon animals, popcorn and cotton candy. A shaved water ice truck will also be at the school for each student to receive a small shaved ice.  More information will follow.

The last PTO meeting of this school year will be 5/14 at 3:30 PM.
