Sending Halloween Overseas
When students at Lafayette Elementary School in Bristol Township learned there is no “trick-or-treat” overseas, they offered to share their candy with soldiers. AROTC Cadets Kevin Frawley and Ian Weinberg from Drexel University visited the school to meet the kids and collect the candy, which will be shipped overseas through the local VFW. SOCKING IT TO DRUGS
Students from Clara Barton Elementary School celebrated "Red Ribon Week" to demonstrate against drug use. The message they carried was "Sock It To Drugs" and they demonstrated their agenda by wearing crazy socks to school. First Grader Tyler Reams wore socks on his hands and his feet. Mrs. Barton's First Grade Class (right) demonstrates a wide variety of crazy socks.

Community Service Fair
Truman High School student Brandon Rumford learns more about the Green Jobs Academy from Emily Evans of Bucks County Community College. Through a grant from Dow Chemical, BCCC manages an after-school club for high school students who want to do environmental community service while they learn more about careers in green jobs. The discussion took place as part of an ongoing community service fair during lunch periods at Truman to help students plan for their community service projects. The Band Is Back
The Elementary School Band is back in the swing of things, and music is filling the halls. Students in Grades 4,5 and 6 at all nine district schools are welcome to be a part of the Bristol Township Elementary Band. For more information, email: btsdband@gmail.com
JAMMIN WITH DWA
Superintendent Dr. Samuel Lee, Board Member Helen Cini, and State Rep.Tina Davis join Bristol Township's Drummers With Attitude (DWA) during a performance at the Bristol Township Senior Expo. The Expo, which was organized by Rep. Davis, promoted services that are available to area seniors.
GRANDS GET THEIR DAY AT LINCOLN

SJU's Coach Martelli Keynotes Opener
Dr. Lee presents SJU Basketball Coach Phil Martelli with a Truman T-Shirt as a token of appreciation for providing the keynote address at the Teachers Opening Day Workshop. Martelli talked about the importance of the teaching profession and how grateful he is to teachers, coaches and other mentors who helped him in his career. TRUMAN CLASS OF 2014 MAKES DEBUT
Truman senior Tyaija Roberts helps her younger sister Craigniqua Jones and a friend, Shakira Burch, with curriculum questions during 10th Grade Orientation at the High School. The kids spent last year making cartoons of healthy foods, which were reproduced on the cafeteria walls. Tullytown Home Depot donated paints and supplies.
Washington Fall Festival
Students at George Washington Elementary School celebrated their second annual Fall Festival with a week filled with fun events sponsored by the student council. Halls were decorated throughout the building and kids and families participated in face-painting, pumpkin rolling and a pumpkin decorating contest. HONORS FOR BOBBY
Family and friends honor Truman student Bobby DeNucci who won the 2011 National Soapbox Derby Championship for Super Kids. Pictured here with Bobby are (from left) Grandparents Floss and Jim Petrino, Mother Sharon DeNucci, Grandmother Gerry DeNucci and State Representative Tina Davis, who honored Bobby with certificate. Next July, Bobby will compete again against classmate Rober Naylor who is the 2011 regional champion.

Truman Seniors Lindsay Ashwell and Kasey Klapach spend a fun afternoon with Vickie Fugarino and Anthony Cavaliero. Through the school's "Best Buddies" program students get together once a month to share good times.
HOW THE FLOORS SHINE AT MARY DEVINE
Summer is a busy time for our hard-working maintenance crews. Empty buildings provide an opportunity for big renovation projects and thorough cleaning. One special summer project was the removal of old tile at Mary Devine Elementary School in Croydon. It was replaced with sparkling new tile.
STARTING A WEEK OF CANCER FUNDRAISING
Teaching assistant Kathy Cook-Lyle helps students Autumn Hill and Adriana Restrepo launch Breast Cancer Awareness Week at Neil Armstrong Middle School by signing a pink ribbon. Each year at this time, Armstrong students under the guidance of Mrs. Cook-Lyle participate in a week of fundraising events culminating in a Cancer Walk on Friday. Proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in honor of a popular teacher who succumbed to breast cancer.
