  Role of the Social Worker

    I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the school social worker for Clara Barton Elementary School. I look forward to working closely with you and your child, and I will make every effort to see to it that your child receives as much personal assistance as possible.

  A school social worker is a certified professional who supports students academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. As a school social worker, I interact with students, teachers, administrators, parents, and community agencies on a daily basis to ensure the students’ needs are being met. I provide individual and group counseling to students in areas such as social skills, dealing with life changes, and coping with grief.

  In addition to providing group and individual counseling, I also assist parents with medical applications and provide referrals to outside agencies.
